February 21, 2024. What may seem like an ordinary Northern Hemisphere winter’s day at a glance is actually a turning point in the time-space continuum. That’s also the release date of the new Vogue Abyss EP “Iron Moonbeam Truth”. Coincidence? We sure don’t think so, and after 19 minutes and 23 seconds, neither will you.

The EP unveils two new Vogue Abyss tracks. The hauntingly tender opening track “Change” sets the stage with pure vulnerability and honesty that will make you pinch your soul to see if you’re dreaming. And you might as well be because the closing masterpiece, “Iron Moonbeam Truth,” gently guides you across the borderline of dreams, transporting you to a place as soft as the sigh of a sleeping butterfly.

“Iron Moonbeam Truth” serves as a captivating summary of Vogue Abyss’ journey so far, featuring newly mixed versions of their acclaimed singles “Hush”, “Universal Solitude” and “Crystal Frisbee Souls”. The band is masterminded by the Finnish songwriter/producer Harri Kangas, with vocals provided by the ethereal US singer Lakes. This indie pop/folk ensemble invites you to immerse yourself in a world of mysteries and melodies.

LYRICS

CHANGE

You wish you had
You wish you had
A kaleidoscopic mind to make sense of this
You wish you had
You wish you had
A yes from the universe in her vague abyss

You’re here and you’re happening
You’re here, you are

And nothing is going to change
The patterns just rearrange
No, nothing is going to change
If you don’t

You wish you had
You wish you had
A blue marble in your hand to slow down its spin
You wish you had
You wish you had
A cracked armor for a soul to slip deep within

You’re here and you’re happening
You’re here, you are

And nothing is going to change
The patterns just rearrange
No, nothing is going to change
Nothing is going to change
The patterns just rearrange
No, nothing is going to change
If you don’t
If you don’t
If you don’t
Change

HUSH

Émilie – Paris whispered to you, “au revoir”
Émilie – on the railing of the Pont des Arts
Émilie – you were free from the lock of gravity
Émilie – like a tidal wave of mystery

Now there’s a hush, words can only say so much
The silence that we share is sacred as such
Now there’s a hush on the lips of my Jeanne d’Arc
Who just left the City of Light in the dark
Hush, hush, hush

Émilie – some lives flow gently like the River Seine
Émilie – others are written by Le Gallienne
Émilie – a Mona Lisa drawn to tragedy
Émilie – with a smile that might be saving me

Now there’s a hush, words can only say so much
The silence that we share is sacred as such
Now there’s a hush on the lips of my Jeanne d’Arc
Who just left the City of Light in the dark
Hush, hush, hush

You closed your eyes to the world
And finally got your wings unfurled

Now there’s a hush, words can only say so much
The silence that we share is sacred as such
Now there’s a hush on the lips of my Jeanne d’Arc
Who just left the City of Light in the dark
Hush, hush, hush

Hush, words can only say so much
The silence that we share is sacred as such
Now there’s a hush on the lips of my Jeanne d’Arc
Who just left the City of Light in the dark
Hush, hush, hush

UNIVERSAL SOLITUDE

I’m sorry but you can’t come along now
‘Cos there is space for only one
Must hurry, I must go all alone now
Set my course for a brand-new sun

This is how the world can be viewed
This is how the world can be viewed
From my universal solitude

Our starry sky’s not where it appears now
The past just twinkles on and on
Don’t worry over all those light years now
The distance that the dead have gone

This is how the world can be viewed
This is how the world can be viewed
From my universal solitude

Like Laika
Like Laika
Like Laika (This is how I go now)
Like Laika (This is how I go now)

There’s no pilot just one passenger
Not meant to return (This is how I go now)
There’s no pilot just one passenger
Sent to crash n’ burn (This is how I go now)

CRYSTAL FRISBEE SOULS

Like a ghost town where no one
Yet knows that they’ve been taken off the map
Like a black cloud not raining
But keeping the sky tangled in its trap

Highlighting the unsaid

How we’re way beyond our senses
We’re blind to consequences
Like crystal frisbee souls toward the wall

Like a weak pulse on my wrist
Too life-changing to put your finger on
Like a snowstorm in your head
The whiteout still here with the winter gone

Highlighting the unsaid

How we’re way beyond our senses
We’re blind to consequences
Like crystal frisbee souls toward the wall
How we’re way beyond our senses
We’re blind to consequences
Like crystal frisbee souls toward the wall

Looking for just one more shortcut
That we could take with our eyes wide shut

Now we’re way beyond our senses
We’re blind to consequences
Like crystal frisbee souls toward the wall
Now we’re way beyond our senses
We’re blind to consequences
Like crystal frisbee souls toward the wall

Now we’re way beyond our senses
We’re blind to consequences
Like crystal frisbee souls toward the wall
Now we’re way beyond our senses
We’re blind to consequences
Like crystal frisbee souls toward the wall

IRON MOONBEAM TRUTH

This is a lullaby
To the sun that’s turning off
To its velvety embrace
Of a warm chrysalis space

This is when I give in
To my iron moonbeam truth
To its whisper in the form
Of a silver summer storm

Wherever I am
Right now I’m with you
Because it’s when you think of me
That I am alive
Else I just linger
Somewhere deep in your memory

This is a safe return
To a dream both yours and mine
To its arms soft as the sigh
Of a sleeping butterfly

Whoever I am
This night will change me
Into someone I’ve always been
A beginning and
An end with only
One breathtaking life in between

Beneath a quilt of gossamer
Beneath a quilt of gossamer
Beneath a quilt of gossamer
Beneath a quilt of gossamer
